Following the continued marginalization and unfriendly deposition of the Rivers State Gov't towards the Youths of Rivers State in recent times. The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Eastern Zone calls on all Youth leaders, Ethnic Youth Groups,Youth Activists and indeed the entire Youths of Rivers state to be fully mobilised for a massive protest against the unjust Proscription of Youth Activities in Rivers State.
The Act of Proscribing Youth activities in Rivers State after the election victory where Rivers Youths died to protect the mandate of Rivers People, paying the ultimate price is a gross injustice meted on rivers youths by the Government of Rivers State under Gov Nyesom Wike who is yet to fulfil his Campaign promise of 40% appointment of Youths into his Cabinet.
This Clarion call is not about politics or political parties, but it's about Marching for the inalienable universal right of rivers youths as major stakeholders to demand the rights,privileges and and lawful gathering of Rivers Youths not as prisoners to any political party and Party Obsessions.
Youths of Rivers State, it's time to rise and take your destinies in your hands.
The Governor should stop using the State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria. Amb Chijioke to cajole Rivers youths.
We demand the 40% appointment the governor promised the Youths of the state in his cabinet and it's a known fact that the youths who constitute 60% of voting strength supported the Governor's 're election and we lost most of our comrades.
We Say No to Proscription of Youth Activities and Gross marginalization of Youths in the affairs of our own state as Youths.
We therefore call on all well meaning Youths of Rivers State to be part of this Great March for the Right and Dignity of the Greatest Rivers Youths of Nigeria.
